Doug's Dig: An import message Bruce Mellor has one huge regret about his digging up the European fort site when he was kid. "The hole was almost 6 feet deep and who knows how wide," he said. "I know I destroyed some archaeological sites, and I regret it." Laws have been passed that prevent people from digging in Indian mounds and other human graves. Archaeologist Doug Birk has some advice: Don't dig if you think you have found an important old treasure. Ask for help from knowledgeable adults, such as your teacher. | |||||
