In 1999, Mary Jo Copeland spent Christmas honoring the birth of Jesus in a manner she employs every day -- by helping the poor, soothing the afflicted and sheltering the homeless.
Photographer Richard Sennott spent part of 1999 documenting Copeland's work in her shelter "Mary's Place." He found her tireless in her work, and passionate about the people she serves. The photographs were taken as part of a Minnesota Arts Council fellowship. |
