| Most important issue: | Accountability and integrity is the issue. One must ask accountable to whom? As a teacher, I and my colleagues believe we are accountable to our students, their parents and the community. The current Board and Administration believe, erroneously that we are accountable to them. Standardized tests, outmoded textbooks, diversity of thought and learning are sacrificed. Integrity means more than honesty or truthfulness, but how solid is the curriculum? How much influence is afforded teachers in determining curriculum and who is prepared for the next level? Rote learning leads to poor study skills, nor should information be confused with knowledge. |
