| Most important issue: | Farmers and agricultural lands are facing increasing pressure to maximize production over each acre. These pressures contribute to the problem of erosion and nutrient transport within agricultural runoff, which has the ability to impact the quality of water resources. Similarly, urban communities are faced with the increasing challenge of effectively managing stormwater runoff that discharges into our lakes, wetlands, rivers and streams. Stormwater management should be a top priority for Hennepin Conservation District and other SWCDs, who play an integral role in working with developing communities and agriculture to implement practices that can improve our natural resources. |
