Party: Republican
Incumbent: Yes
City of residence: Stillwater
Background: Elected to U.S. House of Representatives in 2006; former Minnesota state senator; former federal tax attorney; graduate of Anoka public schools, Winona State University, Coburn School of Law, William and Mary Law School; married with five children; former foster parent to 23.
Endorsements:Republican Party of Minnesota; U.S. Chamber of Commerce; Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life; Freedom Club; Susan B. Anthony List; National Right to Life.
Most important issue: Above all else, we must cut energy costs to help Minnesota's middle class. We must have an all-of-the-above energy strategy that increases domestic production, tapping into American energy sources, while promoting renewable energy technologies. I authored legislation to cut red tape to access energy reserves that have been off-limits offshore, in ANWR and elsewhere. I also authored legislation providing tax incentives for renewable energy - biodiesel, solar, wind and more. My priorities have always been the pocketbook issues of hardworking families, reducing your tax burden, reforming wasteful ways of Washington and helping small business create jobs and grow the economy.
