| Solitary clematis blooms in early to midsummer, producing single, 2-inch-long flowers at the tips of upright stems. The indigo-violet, nodding flowers are bell-shaped with flaring, delicately pointed and twisted sepals (the showy petal-like part of clematis flowers). The flowers are followed by silky, feathery seedheads that give the plant a long-lasting ornamental effect. | |
