Terri Mazurek, left, and Ellis Bergeron of Minneapolis listened intently to a live television feed in an overflow area at the State Office Building. The Civil Law committee held hearings regarding a proposed state constitutional amendment that would define marriage as a union between one man and one woman. Bergeron and Mazurek have been partners for five years and plan to marry in a year and a half. "We have the blessings of our families and friends," Mazurek explained. "We would like to be afforded all the civil rights that are afforded to others."
